Senior Use Internet For Healthcare Research

The Pew Internet & American Life Project recently published a report stating that 66% of over 65 internet surfers researched medical or health related information on the Web.

The Pew study reports that the number of seniors active on the Internet has increased by more than 25% over the past four years. It also stated that 53% of those over 65 Internet users visited sites geared towards support for a specific medical condition or personal situation.

Perhaps a contributing factor to the overwhelming number of seniors researching illness online can be explained by another finding of the Pew study: many of the elderly online describe their health as fair or poor, and are more likely than other elderly to have disabilities.

It pleases us to know that we are likely to reach those of you who have an illness or disability. We are here to also serve those who anticipate the onset of a "family illness" and want to be prepared incase their health deteriorates.

As issues arise in the Long Term Care Insurance arena, we will be here to report it.
